How to Get the Most Out of a Series Class
By Freddie Ferber
Taking a series class at Sunny City Swing is one of the best ways to grow as a dancer. You get structure, progression, and a chance to build real skill over time. But how do you make the most of it?
Show up consistently.
Each class builds on the last. Missing one week can throw off your rhythm — literally. Treat it like a team sport: your presence helps you and your classmates.
Review between classes.
You don’t need to practice for hours. Just take five minutes to walk through the material, watch a recap video, or jot down what clicked. A little review goes a long way.
Ask questions — in the right space.
If something’s unclear, ask during class or stick around after. We love helping dancers refine their understanding. Just remember: we don’t teach on the social dance floor.
Let the material settle.
You don’t have to master everything right away. Some concepts take time. Trust the process, and give yourself permission to grow gradually.
Support your classmates.
Series classes are a shared journey. Celebrate each other’s progress, offer encouragement, and help create a positive learning environment.
We design our series classes to be progressive, inclusive, and joyful. If you show up with curiosity and consistency, you’ll be amazed at how much you grow.
