Curriculum Directors

FREDDIE FERBER & SHAO WEN YANG

Freddie and Shao Wen oversee the curriculum at Sunny City Swing and teach the weekly drop‑in class together. Their approach blends essential swing‑dancing survival skills with fun, accessible movement so new dancers learn advanced concepts without even realizing it. Their classes weave together foundational technique, musicality breaks, styling moments, and playful routines — creating a space where beginners feel confident, supported, and inspired from day one.

NANCY GAMMACK

Nancy brings warmth, musicality, and a deep love of partner dancing to every class she teaches. Her dance journey began in childhood through musical theatre, tap, and jazz, and she discovered partner dancing in her late teens — a moment that sparked a lifelong passion. She’s known for her calm, encouraging presence and her ability to help dancers feel grounded, connected, and fully present in the moment — what she lovingly calls “meditation in motion.”

Swing dancing quickly became Nancy’s favourite style, from the fast‑paced footwork to the welcoming, inclusive community that surrounds it. Whether she’s teaching, rehearsing with the performance teams, or social dancing at events across the city (or in her kitchen!), Nancy brings joy, clarity, and genuine enthusiasm to every dance.

She has trained with communities in Barcelona, Montreal, and Edmonton, and she’s excited to continue welcoming and supporting dancers of all levels into Calgary’s swing scene — one shared dance at a time.
